Summary

The Drawing Checker is an engineering position specifically to assist engineers in the creation and revision of layout and detail drawings to be used in fabrication and field installation. This position reports to the Engineering Manager and assists Engineering Group Managers, and Project Engineers.

Qualifications:

  • MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and Access)
  • AutoCAD, Inventor, and Vault capable
  • Must be able to open drawings and models and plot drawings from AutoCAD
  • Must possess strong analytical and math capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expert drafting skills, 2-D, orthographic projection, dimensioning, layers, lines types, etc.
  • Professional level GD&T, materials, and fabrication knowledge

Education Requirements:

  • B.S.E. Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a design/manufacturing/inspection environment which required the use and interpretation of engineering drawings

Responsibilities:

  • Check and mark up engineering drawings from the points of view of; technical completeness, clarity, conformance with standards, dimensional accuracy and the correct specification of materials and processes.
  • Check and approve tolerance stack analyses for technical completeness and correctness.
  • To assist the Engineering Manager with promoting and developing a generally higher level of engineering drawing, GD&T and tolerance stack analysis skills across the team through one-to-one mentoring and group training activities where required.
  • Compare detail drawings with layout documentation for workability.
  • Determine practicality of design, material selection, available tooling and fabrication process, applying knowledge of manufacturing methods.
  • Confers with design personnel to resolve drawing design discrepancies.
  • Conscience about productivity, timing and work quality such that efforts are efficient and effective to the end result.
  • Other duties as assigned.
